Scientific conferences

Since 1992 the Department of General Sociology and Social Work has organized more than 10 international scientific conferences including the following:

  • October 2007 – ‘Family and familial relationship: modern condition and tendency of evolution'
  • November 2006 – 'Complex and flexible aid to the families and children by social institutions in Russia and Germany : comparative analysis'.
  • October 2006 – 'Institutionalization of scientific schools in social education in Russia '.
  • April 2006 – 'Deviance and delinquency: social control'.
  • April 2005 – 'Organization in the focus of sociological research'.
  • October 2005 – 'Quality management in the institutions of social sphere'.
  • March 2004 – 'Small group: socio-cultural and socio-psychological aspects'.
  • October 2002 – 'Sociology of social transformations'.
  • October 2001 – 'Social policy of the welfare state'.
  • March 2000 – 'Youth of the 21st century: tolerance as a worldview'.
  • October 1997 – 'The family in new socio-economic conditions'.
  • March 1999 – 'Elderly people: a look at the 21st century'.

Organizing international scientific conferences promotes exchange of ideas and experience between scholars representing different regions and countries. University teachers and researchers from such Russian cities as Moscow , Ekaterinburg, Ivanovo , Novosibirsk , Samara, Saratov , St.-Petersburg usually participate in the conferences. Foreign colleagues who took part in the conferences came from Austria , Germany , Kazakhstan , Poland , United Kingdom , USA and other countries.

Usual partners of the Department of General Sociology and Social Work and the Faculty of Social Sciences in organizing the conferences were Nizhniy Novgorod branch of the Institute of Sociology of Russian Academy of Sciences, regional branch of the Academy of the Humanities, administration of Nizhniy Novgorod region.

Participation of undergraduate students in the conferences allows them to feel the atmosphere of academic presentations and discussions and to gain experience of professional communication.
