International Sociological Research ‘The value of children in the cross-cultural perspective'

The Russian part of this project is ‘The value of children and cross-generation relationship'

National Training Foundation

The Government of the Russian Federation jointly with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) signed the Loan agreement with intention to upgrade the quality of education in Russia . The National Training Foundation (NTF) assumed responsibility for financial and organisational matters of the project implementation. As a part of Innovative educational project the program ‘Strengthening the social-economics teaching in higher educational institutions' was aimed to improving training in Russian universities in the fields of Economic Theory, Sociology and Political Sciences in order to make it compatible with Western standards. This program supported the following priority activities:

•  Upgrading and revision of curricula and organisational matters of the training process;

•  Revision of syllabi and design of the new lecture courses;

•  Design of training materials and text-books;

•  Training of teachers in social and economic disciplines;

•  Reform of the managerial and organisational practice;

•  Introduction of modern training and knowledge assessment methods;

•  Strengthening of teachers' and students' international mobility;

•  Improving the quality of teaching foreign languages;

•  Improving the quality of training by use of IT/Internet, better provision of training materials and equipment.

Nizhniy Novgorod State University worked out the project “Methodological, training-didactical and organisational innovations for strengthening the social-economics teaching (sociology, economics) in Nizhniy Novgorod region”. In order to implement the project the NTF and Nizhniy Novgorod State University signed the Subloan Agreement. In the framework of the project new textbooks in various fields of sociology were prepared. Teachers of the department visited several universities in Germany , United Kingdom , Austria , Italy , Denmark . Teachers also received training at Moscow and St.-Petersburg universities, Institute of Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences.

Open Society Institute – Soros Foundation

In the sphere of higher education Open Society Institute supports projects aimed at development of education in the humanities and social sciences, training and improving qualification of university teachers. The central program in this sphere was the project ‘Development of education in Russia ' which was supporting higher education institutions in the regions of Russia .

Within this project teachers of the Department have prepared the following lecture courses:
