Alexander Grudzinskiy was born in 1955. He graduated from the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics of Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1977, and then he worked as an engineer at the Department for Automatic Control Systems at Krasnoe Sormovo Plant (Gorky, USSR) for two years (1977-1979).

Alexander Grudzinskiy started his academic carrier as Teaching Assistant (1979) at the Software Department of the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics (Nizhni Novgorod State University). His Candidate of Science Degree in Physics and Mathematics (1985) followed a postgraduate course at the Computer Centre of the USSR Academy of Sciences (Moscow). After that he worked as Senior Lecturer (1985-90) and Docent (since 1990) at UNN. He was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Danish Technical University (Lyngby, Denmark) in 1990-1991.

Today Dr. Sc. Grudzinskiy is Head of the Centre for Continuing Education (since 1986), Dean of the Faculty for Management and Business (since 1994), and Head of the Chair Sociology of Management (since 2005). He is Vice-Rector for International Affairs since 2003. He also worked as Head of the UNN Department for Technology Transfer (1996-2003) and Head of the UNN Centre for the University Management Studies (2003-2005).

Dr. Alexander Grudzinskiy is Executive Committee member of the Deans' European Academic Network (DEAN) and DEAN Ambassador in Russia (since 2001).

Dr. Alexander Grudzinskiy is an originator, project team member and coordinator of a large number of international projects at the State University of Nizhni Novgorod:

Dr. Alexander Grudzinskiy has published more than 120 papers in national and foreign periodicals. The State Committee for Higher Education recommends his tutorial to HEI students.

Dr. A. Grudzinskiy's field of research is now sociology of management, university management, and knowledge transfer.

For the elaboration and application of an innovative concept of staff retraining in the context of social and economic reforms Alexander Grudzinskiy received in 1997 the Nizhni Novgorod Award in Science and Higher Education.
