LABORATORY OF NEW INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
at the Applied Sociology Department

The Laboratory of New Information Technology works out software of humanities researches. In particular, the Software SKIF, which is used by sociologists in different Russian cities, was created here. In the computer class of the Laboratory, students learn basic skill working with modern personal computers.

DIALOG SYSTEM SKIF

The Dialog System SKIF is made for processing sociological information with mathematical statistics methods. SKIF can be used by sociologists, economists, psychologists and other specialists.

This system has an easy interface, which is very convenient for the users to organize the system of mathematical analysis initial data results. It includes programs to prepare reports in an easy way.

SKIF software can process a massive amount data (around 5 thousand questionnaires, including 500 questions) and carries out local, regional and all-Russian researches.

PC REQUIREMENTS

  • IBM-compatible PC with 80386 SX or greater microprocessor
  • MS DOS version 4.0 or later or Novell DOS 7.0
  • 2 Mb RAM
  • VGA monitor
  • 300 Kb free disk space for systems files location
  • 500 Kb free disk space for software work.
